Label Text is Outside the Lines

applies to: nutraCoster 2.1

If your Nutrition Facts labels experience any of the following symptoms, it is because you have your display properties set to large fonts (120 dpi) rather than normal fonts (96 dpi).

You can correct this by changing the display properties on your computer.

Here are step by step instructions for Windows XP and earlier. (For Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 see below.)

1. Right click in the background of your desktop (anywhere not directly on an icon). (The desktop is the main Windows screen.)

2. In the menu that comes up left click Properties. This will open the Display Properties window.

3. In the Display Properties window click the Settings tab.

4. Some computers will have Font Size in the Settings tab. If not, click the Advanced button.

5. Change the Font Size (or DPI Setting) from Large Fonts (120 dpi) to Small Fonts (96 dpi).

6. Click Apply and/or OK on each window. Some computers may require you to restart.

Here are step by step instructions for Windows Vista.

1. Click the Start button and then choose Control Panel from the Start Menu.

2. In Control Panel, double click Personalization.

3. In the Control Panel Personalization window click Adjust Font Size (DPI) under Tasks.

4. If User Account Control comes up, click Continue.

5. Set the font size to 96 dpi, then click Apply and OK. You may need to restart your computer.

Here are step by step instructions for Windows 7.

1. Click the Start button and then choose Control Panel from the Start Menu.

2. In Control Panel, double click Personalization.

3. In the Control Panel Personalization window click Display under See Also.

4. Set the text size to Smaller - 100% (default), then click Apply. You may need to restart your computer.

Here are step by step instructions for Windows 8.

1. Open the Desktop, move the mouse pointer to the top right corner of your screen to display the Charm Bar and click Settings.

2. In the Settings Bar, click Personalization.

3. In the Control Panel Personalization window click Display under See Also.

4. Be sure there is a check mark in "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays".

5. Set the text size to Smaller - 100% (default), then click Apply. You may need to restart or re-log on to your computer.

Here are step by step instructions for Windows 10.

1. Right click the Start button and then choose Control Panel from the menu.

2. In Control Panel, double click Personalization.

3. In the Control Panel Personalization window click Display under See Also.

4. In Customize your display where it says Change the size of text, apps, ..., set the text size to 100% (Recommended), then click Apply. You may need to restart or re-log on to your computer.

Everything on your screen will appear a little smaller, but the nutraCoster labels will work correctly.

If necessary you can make this change only to create Nutrition Facts labels, and then change back to large fonts when the labels are done.

Label Text Overlaps

If the Nutrition Facts heading on a Canada Horizontal label overlaps other text on the label, the Arial Narrow font is missing from your system.

Internet Explorer 10 - Horizontal lines overlap the text

If you saved the Nutrition Facts label as HTML and the horizontal lines on the label are mis-aligned, you can use IE10 in Compatibility View.

Here are step by step instructions to temporarily turn on Compatibility View.

1. In Internet Explorer 10, open the Tools menu and choose F12 Developer Tools.

2. In the Developer Tools pane at the bottom of the IE10 window, click Browser Mode.

3. Choose Internet Explorer 10 Compatibility View.

This sets the Compatibility View for the current tab. It persists until the tab is closed.

Here are step by step instructions to permanently turn on Compatibility View.

1. In Internet Explorer 10, open the Tools menu and choose Compatibility View Settings.

2. In the Compatibility View Settings window, check Display all websites in Compatibility View.
